Ferris State basketball player Mia Riley earns GLIAC Offensive Player Of Week honors for play against Hillsdale

BIG RAPIDS, Mich.  — 

Senior guard Mia Riley of the nationally 19th-ranked Ferris State University women's basketball squad has been named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

Riley, an Optometry major from Fowler, led the Bulldogs to a big regional win over Hillsdale in the team’s lone game last week, tallying a team-high 22 points and seven rebounds in the 79-68 victory on Wednesday, Nov. 26 over the Chargers inside Jim Wink Arena.

The standout added three steals and two assists with a blocked shot in 24 minutes of work as Ferris State topped a Hillsdale team that held a 3-1 mark entering the game. She went eight-of-15 from the floor and hit two three-point shots along with four-of-six free throws as Ferris State improved to 6-1 on the year.

This week, the Bulldogs will open up conference action on the road with a pair of league games. Ferris State will first visit Purdue University Northwest on Thursday, Dec. 4 for a 6 p.m. game in Hammond, Indiana. The Bulldogs will then face Wayne State University on Saturday, Dec. 6, in Detroit starting at 1 p.m.
