Opening Doors: How Cameron Schwebl Turned An Internship Into A Career

Cameron Schwebl is a senior Business Administration student at Ferris State who broke into the professional world, securing an internship and a post-graduation full-time position for CDW Chicago.
This summer, Schwebl had the opportunity to grab an internship before graduation in December of 2025 with CDW Chicago, a multi-brand provider of information technology solutions, where he worked on-site as a sales intern for their business-to-business sales between CDW and small-scale companies.
Schwebl stated, “They really opened the floodgates for everything. They exposed me to the whole company throughout the internship… [and] really showed me the ins and outs of starting as an intern, to getting a full-time offer, and how to work up from there.”
He got his internship by finding it through Handshake. Reflecting on the hiring process, Schwebl emphasized how much he valued the seamlessness of CDW’s hiring process, calling it one of the most important things to look for when finding an internship. The company poured into him, providing him with networking opportunities, professional development, and connections that stayed on and off the clock.
With a company culture that focused on the growth and development of their employees and countless experiences to look back on, Schwebl was more than happy with his decision. Post-graduation, Cameron will be returning to CDW in a full-time position as an Account Representative, connecting with smaller companies.
Business Administration was not how Schwebl started his college career. He began his studies at Ferris in Music Business and briefly pursued Accounting. Schwebl found his place in Business Administration, drawn to its broad appeal and flexibility. That wide scope opened many internship options… too many. His advice to those looking for internships is to narrow down what you want to try; he said, “Try being truthful with yourself about what you want to do.” Getting into a field that you are interested in will make a world of difference! The Bureau of Labor and Statistics report a median salary of $76,900 for sales agents and related occupations.
