Ferris State’s Starbucks grand re-opening event planned for Aug. 25

A busy summer transforming the face of Ferris State University’s campus Starbucks while enhancing the customer experience will soon be appreciated first-hand by customers.
The coffee shop and cafe is hosting its grand re-opening on Monday, Aug. 25, the first day of classes at Ferris State. The event, running from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., will include a table with information about the new Mobile Order Pay and opportunities to sample new products. Visitors can also put their name in for a gift basket drawing.
Starbucks is located on the first floor of the David Eisler Center, 805 Campus Drive.
“The most exciting thing about the Starbucks refresh is that customers will now be able to use the official Starbucks app to place and pay for orders through the Mobile Order Pay and redeem rewards,” said Rebecca Bogardus, director of Dining Services. “In the past, we offered Ferris employees a discount to offset the inability to redeem Starbucks rewards. Now, we can fully participate in the program.”
Bogardus said Campus Dining will have signs with QR codes to the app throughout the Eisler Center to help everyone get set up for features that include rewards and ordering in advance. While the official grand re-opening event is set for Aug. 25, the renovated facility will be open Aug. 18-22, with summer hours of Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Fall hours begin on Aug. 23, as Starbucks will be open every day. The regular hours will be posted on the Ferris State Starbucks website.
The staff can feel the excitement building for the new look and fresh offerings.
“The new-to-our-Starbucks products like Nitro Cold Brew as well as ability to do more of the Starbucks seasonal specials will be another thing that will add to our customers experience,” Bogardus said.
Because of full participation in Mobile Order Pay, the Ferris State Starbucks will no longer be offering the 10-percent faculty/staff discount.
Ferris State has the only Starbucks coffee shop in the Big Rapids area.
