The Ferris State University women's soccer squad has been picked to finish third in the 2025 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches Poll as announced on Friday by the league office.
The Bulldogs tallied 48 points and a first-place vote in balloting by the league's member head coaches.
Overall, Grand Valley State University was chosen first with 62 points and six top mentions followed by Saginaw Valley State University in second place with 51 points and a single top vote. Behind Ferris State, Northern Michigan University came in fourth (46) with Davenport University fifth (41).
Both Michigan Tech University and Purdue Northwest University tied for sixth place (24) followed by Parkside University in eighth place (19) and Roosevelt University ninth (9).
Ferris State enters the 2025 campaign with high expectations again under head coach Greg Henson.
The Bulldogs closed the 2024 season with an 8-7-4 record. The Bulldogs also made their 17th conference tournament in program history and celebrated the 25th anniversary of the program last fall.
Since Henson's arrival, the Bulldogs have claimed the program's first GLIAC regular-season title, first league tournament championship, made two NCAA Tournament appearances and advanced to the national semifinals for the first time in school history.
The Bulldogs return a veteran nucleus this coming fall and also inked a total of 13 standouts, including 11 incoming freshmen for the fall of 2025 along with a pair of NCAA Division I transfers.
Ferris State will officially open the regular season on the road at Cedarville University on Sept. 4 before returning to Big Rapids for the home opener against University of Indianapolis on Sept. 7.
