Three Ferris State cross country runners earn GLIAC honors after competing in conference championship

Three Ferris State University cross country runners where honored by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference after competing in the GLIAC championship this weekend.

Ferris State men's cross country junior Cooper Sorsen earned All-GLIAC Second Team honors based on his individual finish at the GLIAC championships.
The Bulldog women placed sixth overall in the final team standings while the men came in seventh overall in the event, which was hosted by Ferris State at the Katke Golf Course.
The women’s team was led by senior Hanna Brock, who placed 12th in the 6K event with a time of 21:54.0. Junior Whitney Farrell placed 15th (21:57.6) for Ferris State. Melanea Strauss finished 36th (23:01.4) and Jessica Durkee came in 40th (23:08.5) with Daisy Englund 43rd (23:15.5) in the field.
On the men's side, the Bulldogs were led by junior Cooper Sorsen, who placed 11th overall in a time of 24:52.2 on the 8K course. Ferris State junior Gavin Vansolkema took 34th place (25:43.8) with Ryan Ososki 37th (25:49.8) in the field. Senior Noah Griffith placed 55th (26:16.4) and sophomore Ben Knuth was 60th (26:24.9).
Brock, Farrell and Sorsen all earned All-GLIAC Second Team honors based on their individual finishes.
This year marked the fourth time since 1995 in which the Bulldogs hosted the GLIAC Cross Country Championships.
This year represented the 54th annual men's league cross country championships while the women ran for the 36th-straight year in the conference competition.
The Ferris State men's and women's cross country teams are guided by former Bulldog standout and local native Jared Kelsh, who is in his 10th campaign at the helm.
Saturday's meet was the final competition of the season for both Ferris State teams prior to the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Championships, which take place on Nov. 9 in Romeoville, Illinois.
