Vice President for Student Affairs Jeanine Ward-Roof was a 2024 recipient of the award at a recent National Association of Student Personnel Administrators Region IV-E gathering.

“I am honored by this recognition and thank all who nominated me,” Ward-Roof said. “It is an extreme pleasure to serve as the vice president for student affairs at Ferris State and to work alongside an incredible team who support our students’ success.”

Ward-Roof became a Ferris State vice president in 2014 and has more than 30 years of student affairs experience.

Ward-Roof oversees a wide range of offices and departments geared toward enhancing the Ferris State campus student experience from admissions through commencement, and everything in between.

Ward-Roof received a bachelor’s degree in Communication from Ohio University, a master’s degree in College Student Personnel from Bowling Green State University and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Clemson University.

NASPA’s Scott Goodnight Award for Outstanding Performance as a Dean is presented to a senior student affairs officer. This award is a tribute to NASPA’s founding chair of the board of directors (1919-1920) and a former University of Wisconsin dean.

Honored officers show sustained professional achievement in student affairs work, innovative responses in meeting students’ varied and emerging needs, effectiveness in developing staff, and leadership in community and college or university affairs.

The honorees must have earned stature among and support of campus students, faculty, and fellow administrators. The winners must also have made significant contributions to the field through publications or involvement in professional associations.

This highlight by a national organization holds significant meaning for the Ferris State vice president.

“Recognition from my peers and NASPA – my professional organization is humbling and very much appreciated,” Ward-Roof said.
