Men’s Basketball Wins GLIAC Tourney, Men and Women Earn NCAA Bids, Seven Named All-Conference Over Weekend
The Ferris State men's basketball team won the 2023-24 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship on Sunday, March 10, at the Berry Events Center in Marquette on the campus of Northern Michigan University.
BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — 

Seven Ferris State University basketball players earned All-Conference honors for outstanding performance during the 2023-2024 season from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. 

All-GLIAC womenThree members of the men’s basketball team, which won the GLIAC Tournament championship on Sunday, were saluted. Four members of the women’s team, which was ranked No. 10 nationally before falling in the GLIAC championship semifinals, earned recognition.

Both teams were selected on Sunday to compete in the NCAA Division II National Tournament.

The All-Conference teams and major award recipients were determined by voting by the league’s head coaches. Ten student-athletes were named to the All-GLIAC First Team with 10 more on the All-GLIAC Second Team and 10 earning GLIAC All-Defensive Team accolades.

All-GLIAC menFerris State junior guard Ethan Erickson was chosen as the GLIAC’s Sixth Man of the Year, becoming the first player in league history to earn the recently-created award.

Erickson also earned All-GLIAC First Team honors along with senior guard Ben Davidson. Senior forward Dolapo Olayinka was an All-GLIAC Second Team honoree.

The trio has helped lead the Bulldogs to a 24-7 overall record to date this year.

The women’s team had four players saluted with All-GLIAC honors.

Senior guard Mallory McCartney, senior forward Chloe Idoni, and junior guard Kadyn Blanchard earned All-GLIAC First Team honors. The Bulldogs were the only team to have three student-athletes named to the First Team squad.

Ferris State had two GLIAC All-Defensive Team honorees in Idoni and senior forward DeShonna Day.
