BIG RAPIDS, Mich. —

One 10-word phrase Ferris State University athletics broadcasting duo Rob Bentley and Sandy Gholston hoped to say once in their careers was, “The Ferris State Bulldogs are the Division II national champions!”
The pair has now excitedly shouted that phrase three times since 2018 while on live broadcasts to thousands of Bulldog fans across the country.

In the same span, Bentley and Gholston have expanded their coverage of Ferris State athletics. They’ve added after-game experiences, a tailgate show, expanded pre-game coverage, additional resources for student employees and interns helping with the broadcast, elevated graphics, and enhanced promotional materials for all 17 varsity sports under Bulldog athletics.

“We love telling the Bulldog story. Creating excitement for teams, pushing the envelope, and growing our reach to engage the Ferris State community along with potential students and their families – it’s a rewarding experience,” Gholston said.

Bentley added, “We are fortunate to play a role in so many aspects of supporting the Dawgs. From recruiting efforts to engaging and interacting with the best fans in the country, our broadcasting team works hard to help Ferris State lead the way in NCAA Division II athletics.”

Ferris State University also hosted its first ever One Day for Dawgs giving day in 2018, representing an opportunity for causes across campus to raise funds toward programs, scholarships, and more. Recognizing the opportunities for growth, the Bulldog Broadcasting team has participated in the university’s day of giving for several years and attributes much of their growth to donor support.

“With 17 varsity sports on campus, people don’t always understand how far their support goes toward helping provide coverage and support these programs,” Bentley said. “We provide coverage of more than 200 events across our team, and every dollar goes toward engaging the Bulldog community and supporting the student employees and interns who work with our incredible team.”

This year’s One Day for Dawgs event is set for April 10, with additional information available at Ferris.edu/oneday. Bulldog Broadcasting is most looking forward to further innovating ways to connect with Ferris State fans across the country.

“Ferris State has such a unique story and so many successes to highlight,” said Gholston. “As One Day for Dawgs approaches and amazing causes are championed across the university, we are grateful to all the supporters who help make Ferris State an incredible place to be.”

Now having called four national championship contests, the duo had one final message for Bulldog Nation; “Thank you for the support, we are tremendously grateful. We couldn’t do it without you. Go Bulldogs!”
