Live Music on the Quad

Location: North Campus Quad

Grab a blanket, chair, or hammock and catch some live tunes brought to you by local bands; Common Nonsense punk rock and Rendered Worthless grunge rock.

Your chance to watch Avengers Endgame on the big screen. Bring a blanket or towel to sit on the lawn and enjoy a movie with new and old friends. Depending on the weather, you may want to bring a sweater or light jacket.  

 

Saturday, Aug. 24

Greeks Carnival

12 P.M. to 4 P.M.

Location: North Campus Quad 

This event is open to ALL students. Chapters from Interfraternity Council (IFC), Panhellenic and Black Greek Council will be hosting games and snacks. Come and hang out, listen to some music and play yard games. This is a great opportunity to let our new Bulldogs (students) learn about our Greek community.  If interested in joining Greek Life contact [email protected]

 

Big Rapids Summer Fest (Downtown)

3 P.M. to 6 P.M.

Location: Downtown Big Rapids

This event is an opportunity for Ferris students to explore the many venues of the city's downtown area.   Michigan Ave will be closed to make room for activities including: inflatables, prizes, open mic with instruments available, sports competitions, car show, street dance, climbing wall and sidewalk sales.   Event begins at 12 P.M. with Ferris shuttle transportation beginning at 3 P.M. until 6 P.M.  Shuttle pick up and drop off at the following locations on a continuous loop:  Bond Circle, University Center Lot 32, The Rock Lot 39, Downtown Chemical Bank.  

  

Meijer Back to College '19

7 P.M. to 9 P.M. 

Location: Big Rapids Meijer

Event includes bargains, giveaways and more.  7 P.M. to 9 P.M. shuttle pick up and drop off at the following locations on a continuous loop:  Bond Circle, University Center Lot 32, The Rock Lot 39, Meijer.  

 

UC Late Night

Come on in to the University Center for free food, games, and some really great giveaways through our giant bingo competition!

BEgin WELL! Is a health and counseling center open house with resources, food & games! Come learn more about how to lead a healthy fall semester on-campus, and about the resources available to you to make it happen.

 

Rec Fest and Grand Opening Celebration

6 P.M. to 8 P.M.

Location: Student Recreation Center

There will be games, food, prizes to win, and free giveaways! All of the club sport teams will be there with information about their club as well as info on intramural sports and everything else the SRC has to offer.

 

Tuesday, Aug. 27

Erbert and Gerbert Sample Day

Time: 11 A.M. to 2 P.M. 

Location: IRC Connector

The students will be able to sample some of the offering that we have at E and G and learn what items they can purchase with their meal plan equivalency that they have once a day with their unlimited plan and what students that have an express meal plan can get for a swipe. They will also get to know where E and G is located and a little history/story behind each of the sandwiches that they offer.

 

Student Employment Job Fair

Time: 10 A.M. to 1 P.M.

Location: University Center 202

This is a chance for students to find jobs on campus! Representatives from numerous campus departments will be seeking to hire students. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes, copies of class schedules, and a copy of their financial aid award notice.

OMSS: Open House

EU Comedian - Jessi Campbell

Jessi Campbell is quite simply the best! She’s likable, smart, witty, and most of all… hilarious! She was the 2015 Campus Activities Magazine Female Performer of the Year, an award she was also nominated for in 2013 and has performed at over 1,000 college Nationwide. Jessi’s comedy CD “Winner Winner” has been featured on iTunes and can be heard on Sirius/XM Radio, Pandora/Spotify, and terrestrial radio stations across country. Jessi has performed at Gilda’s LaughFest, The Boston Comedy Festival, The Great American Comedy Festival, San Francisco SketchFest, and was the People’s Choice winner at the 2009 Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival. She was featured on NBC‘s Last Comic. Founders' Day Extravaganza & Ice Cream Social

4 P.M. to 6:30 P.M.

Location: North Campus Quad (University Center, in case of rain)

Founders’ Day is an annual event for students, faculty, staff and community members to come together to celebrate founders Woodbridge and Helen Gillespie Ferris, and their contributions to what is today known as Ferris State University. Founders’ Day activities are free and open to students, faculty, staff and community members.  Come and enjoy some great food, great games and win lots of prizes. There is also a resource fair to discover places you can volunteer around the community, departments on campus that provide services for you, and your 5-star Registered Student Organizations. Check it out and get connected.

The annual Founders’ Day Community Ice Cream Social will once again feature the famous Jones' Homemade Ice Cream served up by local celebrities from the Big Rapids community. Free ice cream will be served as long as the ice cream lasts. Register to win awesome raffle prizes such as a large screen TV. Drawing will be held on the quad at 6:30 pm and you MUST be present to win.

Disc Golf @ FLITE 

1 P.M. to 3 P.M.

Location: FLITE (Ferris Library for Information Technology and Education)

Participate in an 18 hole indoor/outdoor disc golf tournament in FLITE on Friday, August 30th from 1 to 3 P.M. Teams of 2 compete in a best disc format while navigating through the FLITE building. Prizes to the overall winning team, and in divisions (Men’s Mixed, and Women’s). Must tee off no later than 2:45. Prizes awarded at the conclusion of the event approximately @ 3:30 P.M. Helpful if you are present to claim your prize.

The 51st Annual Labor Day Arts and Crafts Fair

It is the 51st Annual Labor Day Arts and Crafts Festival! This event will draw over 10,000 visitors to Hemlock Park in Big Rapids on Monday, September 2, 2019, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Come on out to browse through a vast array of handcrafted items: from wheel-thrown pottery to hand-woven baskets, stained glass, oak furniture, painting, jewelry, weather vanes and lawn ornaments and much more! Admission is free.

Relationships, Respect, and Resources Not Your Average Sex Talk

11 A.M. & 7 P.M.

Location: 11 A.M. Williams Auditorium & 7 P.M. University Center 202

This engaging and interactive program will be presented in collaboration with Birkam Health & Counseling Center and the Anti-Violence Coalition on September 3rd at 11 a.m. in Williams Auditorium and 7:00 p.m. session in the University Center Room 202. It covers healthy relationships, consent, as well as bystander intervention basics to be proactive in prevention efforts. Be prepared to dialog about who, how and what shapes our decisions around relationships and sex, as well as ways we work together as a campus community to keep each other safe. 

Students attending this event for an FSUS course will have proof of attendance by having their student ID card swiped and/or ticket stamped. Students - please bring your student ID card.
