Chelsea Lenard - Assistant General Counsel

Chelsea Lenard joined Ferris State University as Assistant General Counsel in November of 2024. Prior to this role, she worked in private practice where she handled both transactional and litigation matters. Her primary practice areas included civil litigation, commercial litigation, personal injury, cannabis law, and other general business matters. She has handled cases in various state courts throughout the state of Michigan as well as cases in both the Eastern and Western District of Michigan.

Chelsea was born and raised in Metro Detroit and ventured down south to Murfreesboro, Tennessee where she earned her Bachelor’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University in 2015 majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in Psychology. While in Tennessee, she interned at the Rutherford County District Attorney’s Office working for their cold case unit and later worked as a paralegal for a general practice firm from 2015 to 2017. Chelsea relocated back to her home state of Michigan to attend law school where she graduated from Michigan State University College of Law with her Juris Doctor 2020. While in law school, Chelsea worked in-house at McLaren Health Care Corporation and worked as a law clerk at Grewal Law PLLC.

Chelsea was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in November of 2020. She has served on the board of the Grand Rapids Bar Association’s Young Lawyers section since 2022 and currently serves as the Social Chair.
