2023 Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Caitlin Dickerson will speak and engage in a question-and-answer session Thursday, April 11 at 7 p.m. to conclude Ferris State University’s Arts and Lecture Series. Her presentation will take place in Ballroom A of the David L. Eisler Center.

Dickerson is speaking at 7 p.m. on April 11 in Ballroom A of the David L. Eisler Center, 805 Campus Drive in Big Rapids.

Dickerson’s background, spanning the New York Times, National Public Radio and her current role as staff writer for The Atlantic, will provide valuable perspective to students in many degree programs, said Arts and Lectures Committee Chair Glen Okonoski, the director of Ferris State’s School of Digital Media.

“We have collaborated across campus in raising awareness of Dickerson’s visit as an opportunity to engage with a most current and relevant journalist who has won national awards for print and broadcast reporting,” Okonoski said.

Dickerson’s report on federal deportation practices severing families earned her a Pulitzer Prize, while a report on mustard gas testing during World War II brought the Edward R. Murrow Award for Investigative Reporting from the Radio/Television/Digital News Association and a George Peabody Award from the University of Georgia.

“Dickerson’s experience serving esteemed and credible media, considering topics related to immigration, history, politics and race will bring a unique learning opportunity to our audience,” Okonoski said. “We welcome the public to join our campus community for a most worthwhile presentation and discussion.”

The annual Arts and Lecture series is intended to provide diverse events to broaden the horizons of Ferris students and the greater community.

Those requiring accommodations to attend this event are asked to contact Arts and Lectures at (231) 591-3626 at least 72 hours in advance.
