National Summer Transportation Institute

**The deadline for application has been extended to May 22nd**

 

 

The third annual National Summer Transportation Institute (NSTI) was held at Ferris State University from August 3-9, 2014! Twenty-two high school students (ages 14-17) packed their bags and headed to our Big Rapids campus for a week of transportation fun!

Activities included:

-Making and breaking concrete cylinders

-Making asphalt cylinders

-MDOT Trac modules

-Team Elmer's tour of a construction project and their facilities

-A trip to Traverse City to Northwestern Michigan College's Aviation program where they flew in planes, practiced on simulators and went up in the active control tower.

-Behind the scenes tour of Cherry Capital Airport

-Tour of the US Coast Guard station

-Sailboat ride in beautiful Traverse Bay

 

The 2015 camp will take place August 2-8.
