Fashion Studies Minor

 Minor

 Locations:

The Fashion Studies minor introduces students to the creative and professional foundations of the fashion industry. Through coursework that explores trend research, textiles, garment development, and visual communication, students develop an informed understanding of how fashion ideas move from concept to market. The minor emphasizes the application of design elements and principles, as well as the ability to analyze and articulate cultural and industry trends.

This minor is an excellent complement for students majoring in programs such as Studio Arts, Graphic Design, Illustration, Product Design, Marketing, Advertising/IMC, and related disciplines. It provides a creative and industry-relevant skillset that supports roles in fashion styling, product development, branding, editorial direction, retail buying, and other areas of fashion media and commerce.

Students completing the Fashion Studies minor will gain a foundation in:

  • Fashion industry structure and professional roles
  • Trend research and visual analysis
  • Fabric and material sourcing considerations
  • Creative development and presentation of fashion concepts

The minor helps students build a strong, fashion-informed point of view that enhances their creative or business-oriented career path.
