About
Michael McCulloch is an architect and historian whose research engages housing, labor,
industrialization, and landscape. He is Associate Professor and Chair of the Master
of Architecture Program at Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University.
Michael holds a Ph.D. in Architecture from the University of Michigan and a M.S. in
Urban Design from Columbia University. He has previously taught at the University
of Michigan, the University of Detroit Mercy, and Drury University.
Michael is the author of Building a Social Contract: Modern Workers' Houses in Early
Twentieth-Century Detroit (Temple University Press, 2023), and his writing has appeared
in Preservation Education and Research, the Journal of Urban History, and the Journal
of Planning History.
