Dow Center FLEXlab

Our collection of 3D printers enable you to explore additive manufacturing, a process where an object is created by layering successive coats of material on top of one another.  We have a selection of fused filament fabrication printers and a suite of stereolithography resin printers.

With our 3D scanners, you can digitally capture the shape of physical objects. From objects as small as 1 cubic inch to room scale environments. You can create low poly scans quickly to longer more intricate high-resolution scans, so detailed you can see the pores of a human face!

Laser cutting and engraving uses a thin and highly focused, beam of light to cut or etch photographs, text, patterns and more. We can work with sheet materials such wood, glass, paper, plastic, or some metals up to 48 x 36 inches. 

FLEXlab offers access to a variety of software to prepare your designs. These tools are available in the lab on our Mac Pro workstations or for download on student's personal devices. Our staff are available to assist students with troubleshooting—just drop by to make an appointment. 

The vinyl cutter cuts designs from self-adhesive vinyl, enabling you to create custom graphics, type, and more that can be adhered to most surfaces. 

Our wide format printer allows you to print your art and design work at a massive scale, perfect for showcasing your creative projects in a gallery or other display space on campus.
