Dual Enrollment at KCAD is a great way for students to get a head start by taking college courses while still in high school.

Did You Know?

KCAD Dual Enrollment courses can be used for both high school and college credit.
All Dual Enrollment courses are offered at a reduced tuition rate.
You may be eligible to receive tuition support through the State of Michigan - State School Aid Act. Speak to your high school counselor for eligibility requirements and more information.
Dual Enrollment courses may be offered at a high school location, on KCAD's campus, or online. Talk with an admissions counselor to learn more!
Students who complete a Dual Enrollment course at KCAD have the opportunity to earn the Kendall NEXT Scholarship.
Students must meet legislated dual enrollment guidelines to enroll. Don’t worry- your high school guidance counselor will help you figure it out!

Priority Deadlines

Enrollment application materials for the fall 2025 semester must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025 to allow for adequate processing time.

Please note: Students will not be admitted or registered for dual enrollment courses after the KCAD semester begins.

What classes can I take?

Students eligible to participate in high school dual enrollment can enroll in freshmen level (and sometimes sophomore level) college courses. We’ll work with you to identify which classes fit your needs, schedule, and future goals. View the complete list of fall 2025 course offerings for more details.

How long do classes last?

Courses last 15 weeks and are offered during the fall and spring semesters.

What do I need to apply? Do I need a portfolio?

You’ll need to submit an online application and high school transcripts. You don’t need to submit a portfolio. In fact, Dual Enrollment is a great opportunity to build your skills and develop your portfolio.

Design: Image

This course introduces the concepts of design, problem statements, problem-solving, and multiple iterations of design solutions using a variety of hand and digital tools. Design work is documented through journaling and photography with an introduction to manually adjustable digital (DSLR) camera use and lighting.

Drawing: Learn

This course is an introduction to sketching, drawing as observation, and conceptualization through eye-hand coordination. Methods include freehand drawing using fundamental perspective principles and quick-sketch techniques. An emphasis will be placed on linear construction with concern for accurate proportion in addition to accurate use of value, light, and shadow. This course will employ the use of live models (clothed and/or nude) to study scale, proportion, and composition.
