Profile

Mari Kermit-Canfield joined FLITE faculty in 2009 following an appointment at Indiana University's Prevention Resource Center. She previously worked in music, education, and arts libraries at Penn State and Indiana University.

In addition to work in library science and music Kermit-Canfield spent significant time employed as a women's rights advocate and sexual assault awareness educator. Peer education and social marketing campaigns from Indiana University's Raising Awareness of Interactions in Sexual Encounters (RAISE) program have been the subject of international news coverage and resulted in several publications.

Kermit-Canfield and her colleague Gary Maixner are the creators of several information literacy based competitive games intended for use in library instruction. These games - Search&Destroy, Trust Issues, et al are published as part of the Wunderkind Games development group.

When not at the library Kermit-Canfield enjoys playing Irish fiddle, cycling, knitting, and cooking.
