Student Organization Coach

What is a Student Organization Coach?

A Student Organization Coach is a trained and experienced organization leader who works with students on a variety of topics that maximize the success of their organization.  Support is offered through personalized consultation, workshops, or student organization presentations.

The coach can assist organization members in the following ways:

  • Campus Engagement -  As a way for an organization to have a positive impact on campus, coaches can direct your organization to opportunities for social activities, member development, collaborative activities and service projects to get involved with.
  • Activities and Events –hosting impactful speakers, events, and socials adds to the campus environment.  A coach can help the organization navigate event planning details, find resources, manage risk and follow guidelines to maximize success.
  • Community Engagement –coaches can offer service opportunity ideas and help the organization define their call to service.  Whether it is fundraising, donation drives, or spending time in the community, a coach can will help you find or host service activities.
  • Member Development – the organization’s success depends on its members' success.  Coaches are able to listen to your members' needs and work with the organization to develop learning opportunities that build leadership, manage conflicts, prioritize academics, and increase teamwork.
  • Mission Driven - coaches can assist organization leaders to begin with the end in mind.  Consultation is available to assist with developing or renewing a constitution that sets the vision and path for your organization.

"How's it going all? I am a senior in the Television and Digital Media Production program, the president of Sigma Pi fraternity, chairperson of SLAAC (Student Leadership and Activities Advisory Council), Treasurer for Bulldog Radio, and finally a long time CAPS employee. When I have free time from all of that I make sure to read a good book, go for hikes, or pet cute cats. Without CAPS or my organizations I don't believe I would have been able to come as far as I have, so I hope I can help others see the importance of finding the right student organization to help them on their journey through college!"
