Biography

Dr. Joe Pole received his Ph.D. from the University of Virginia in 2010, where he participated in the construction and characterization of a small animal (mouse and rat) x-ray/single gamma ray tomographic (3D) imaging system. His work focused on the development of acquisition and image processing software, detector noise and resolution characterization, image contrast enhancement, and the development of respiratory and cardiac gating equipment for small animals. He also acquired and analyzed small animal three-dimensional image data for biological research groups. He was previously employed at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee, where he taught the lecture and laboratory sections of an introductory physics course for pre-med students and a conceptual physics course for non-science students.
