A statewide professional organization that promotes collaboration between employers
and Michigan colleges and universities has presented an award to Ferris State University’s
Career and Volunteer Center coordinator for her work to maximize cooperative education
and internship opportunities for students.
The Michigan Career Educator and Employer Alliance announced Michele Albright as the
2020 Don Hunt Service Award recipient on Friday, Oct. 2, during its virtual quarterly
membership meeting and awards event. The MCEEA Awards Chairperson Yvonne Langley said
that Albright is “known throughout the alliance for her soft skills, work ethic and
engagement with employers and students.” Albright earned her Bachelor of Science from
Ferris in 1996 followed by a Master of Science in Career and Technical Education in
2016 and is in Cohort 10 of Ferris’ Doctorate in Community College Leadership program.
“It is a privilege to work with students as they form interests, develop passions
and gain employment skills through service and engagement,” Albright said. “My role
is driven by my passion to help students change, or improve, the trajectory of their
lives. It is an honor to serve as a connection between employers, opportunities, and
students.”
The MCEEA presents the Don Hunt Service Award to a member of the Michigan co-op and
or internship community for their significant contributions to promote and sustain
the cooperative education and internship philosophy in the state. Albright is now
in her 10th year as a Ferris staff member. She started her current duties in the Career
and Volunteer Center of the Center for Leadership, Activities and Career Services
in July 2013.
