Summer Internships: Jared Prevost

Ferris State University students gain valuable work experience through internships. Internships also can confirm or redirect career decision-making, provide marketability, develop people skills and enhance classroom learning. Many academic programs require one, but the experience is encouraged regardless to provide students with a better understanding of what will be expected of them in the workplace.

Many students are participating in myriad internships this summer. Meet:

Jared PrevostJared Prevost

He is: A senior from Marquette, Michigan who is majoring in Finance, minoring in Economics and Spanish.

His Internship: Jared is interning with Veridea Group, which is based in Marquette. This company has transitioned into a real estate company in the last 10 years. Jared generally focuses on examining projections and seeing if there are any projects they could, or should, take on. “A project that I have been working on is putting solar panels on top of our hotels and residential buildings. So, I have been building projection models for that and have been working with a solar panel company in Marquette and the utility provider, to see if it would be cost-effective.” One of Jared’s biggest goals is to reduce costs while working to keep their staff employed. 

His Future Plans: Jared plans to graduate in May 2021. His plans after earning his degree are to travel and start his own business. He has found inspiration in a book called “The 4-Hour Workweek,” by Timothy Ferriss.

Other Activities on Campus: This past year, Jared was the vice president of the American Marketing Association. He is in the Economics Reading Group and has competed in the ACG (Association for Corporate Growth) Cup. Jared is an honor student, finance tutor, and also has a financial coaching LLC in progress that will be launching in the fall.
