A group of Ferris State University Professional Golf Association Golf Management students and administrators recently received the Award of Merit from the Michigan Golf Course Association. The award is symbolic of the achievements accrued since the Professional Golf Association sanctioned the program at its founding in 1975.
Diane Maguire, the assistant director of the PGAGM program, said this honor came at the Michigan Golf Business Conference and Vendor Fair, held at the Soaring Eagle Resort, near Mount Pleasant.
“The Award of Merit has only been given out six times in the association’s 43-year history, so we are truly honored to receive it,” Maguire said. “Many of our alumni attended the banquet, which made it even more special to share it with them and our current students.”
The PGAGM program had a positive year in 2019, with the opening of the Ken Janke Sr. Golf Learning Center, serving as a resource for student training and business experience. The center also is a permanent home for the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame.
