Summer Internships: Rachel Weber

Ferris State University students gain valuable work experience through internships. Internships also can confirm or redirect career decision-making, provide marketability, develop people skills and enhance classroom learning. Many academic programs require one, but the experience is encouraged regardless to provide students with a better understanding of what will be expected of them in the workplace.

Many students are participating in myriad internships this summer. Meet:

Rachel WeberRachel Weber

She is: a fourth-year student from Rochester Hills in Television and Digital Media Production. Rachel is among Ferris' interns at WKTV Community Television in Wyoming, Michigan.

What Rachel is Learning On Her Internship: "This has given me the opportunity to improve on my content creation skills and helped me to develop my contributions to team projects and production."

Future Plans: "I hope to take my career into media production of sporting events or sports-related content. I believe my current experiences will play well toward achieving that goal."

Advice for Other Students Seeking Internships: "This is an important opportunity, but we need to relax and rely on Ferris' learning. Where you go for an internship is not as important as making as much as you can, out of what it offers you."

Other Activities on Campus: "I have been active in eSports at Ferris, and am an avid musician, playing the bass guitar, harmonica and doing vocals."

Ferris Core Values Rachel Relates to: Learning. "I find great appeal in the learning I have accomplished in my internship and Ferris's last four years. It has helped me to approach my classwork with dedication and made me a better person, giving me more than I could have ever expected. I plan to take this core value and mindset with me long after I graduate, so I can feed my own hunger to learn."
