A 1969 Ferris State University graduate will be welcomed back to The Ferris Foundation Board of Directors, as Terry Stewart, of Fountain Hills, Arizona and Saugatuck, was approved by the university’s Board of Trustees as a director on Friday, Oct. 5.
Stewart received his first appointment as a director in 2009 and continued in his service to The Foundation board into 2012. He reconnected with the institution recently, and his conversations with university President David Eisler and The Ferris Foundation Executive Director Carla Miller convinced him to return to the board.
“Having been involved with the university, in a number of ways, I was pleased to learn I could once again contribute to The Ferris Foundation in this fashion,” Stewart said. “I am spending a majority of my time in Arizona, now, but look forward to reconnecting with fellow directors and Ferris’ leaders in this capacity.”
Stewart had established the Terry L. and Cynthia R. Stewart Endowed Scholarship Endowment in 1992, which is intended to support of students pursuing their Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Administration.
Miller expressed her pleasure at the Board of Trustees action that sees Stewart returning to the board.
“We are very glad Terry has agreed to rejoin The Ferris Foundation board,” Miller said. “His business experience and passion for Ferris will be of great benefit to our efforts.”
Stewart’s Ferris ties remain strong.
“I look back, and feel that Ferris gave me a chance at college, when I may not have been the best prospect as a student,” Stewart said. “I am glad for that opportunity, and I simply want to help The Ferris Foundation Board and the university in any way that I can.”
Stewart joins College of Pharmacy alumnus Adel Makki, of Dearborn Heights, Michigan,
and 2007 Honorary Doctorate of Business and Industry recipient John Fenn, of Shelby
Township, as recent appointees to The Ferris Foundation Board of Directors.
