Students who need a final financial boost to complete their degree programs will benefit from Ferris State University’s College of Health Professions’ golf scramble, which will be held Wednesday, May 23, at the university’s Katke Golf Course.
This is the first such event scheduled to produce financial resources for the Endowed Student Economic Assistance Scholarship Fund, according to Gregory Zimmerman, department head for Ferris’ Clinical Lab, Respiratory Care, Health Care Administration and Public Health programs.
“We are thrilled to host this fundraising event for such a critical need,” said Zimmerman, the event organizer. “This is a wonderful opportunity for us to raise scholarship funds in support of students who, in most cases, have exhausted all available personal and public financial aid resources near the end of their Ferris studies and find themselves in an emergency financial need to complete their degree.”
A variety of sponsorship opportunities are available to those wishing to support the scholarship fund as organizers arranged the cost structure to meet the expenses of the scramble in hopes that it encourages participation.
“We hope our clinical affiliates and the greater Big Rapids community and merchants can reserve the better part of a day to join with others and support such a needed and worthwhile cause,” Zimmerman said. “We believe this scramble ties into many university core values including collaboration, excellence and opportunity.”
Event highlights include check-in and breakfast, a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start for 18 holes of golf and a lunch reception following the event where winners will be announced from a raffle, drawings and prizes from on-course contests.
