Labor Day provided an extra day of relaxation before classes resumed on Tuesday, Sept. 3 for students, and faculty and staff returned to their offices. This Week in Ferris highlights some of the activities taking place over the next few days, and beyond.

Throughout the week, “Spreading Light and Joy” by David Zinn will be on display at the Fine Arts Gallery, located in the University Center, Room 205.

Monday, Sept. 5

Labor Day- No classes

Tuesday, Sept. 6

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Hispanic/Latino Cultural Center will hosts its New Director Open House for visitors to meet the new director, to meet members of the Hispanic Student Organization and the Promesa Scholars. Pizza will be provided as part of the open house.

6 to 10:30 p.m. Williams Auditorium, The fall theater production will hold auditions for the musical, Big Fish. No experience is needed, or preparation required. There will be a signup sheet located backstage at Williams Auditorium, fish will guide your way to it. You must sign up for an audition slot.

6:30 to 8:30 p.m. University Center, Room 202, Student Government General Assembly Meeting

Wednesday, Sept. 7

6 to 10:30 p.m.  Williams Auditorium, Big Fish auditions will continue. No experience or preparation is required.

Thursday, Sept. 8

11 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The University Wide Teacher Education Committee will hold a meeting in the University Center, Room 202C.

5 to 7 p.m. Students with Children Kick-Off will take place in the West Campus Community Center. Student parents are welcome to come and mingle with other parents, and learn about upcoming family-friendly events sponsored by the program. As well as gain knowledge on campus/community resources, and opportunities that Ferris offers student parents. Food and refreshments will be served. Be sure to bring your child as well.

6 to 10:30 p.m. Williams Auditorium, Big Fish auditions continue.

6 to 9 p.m. University Center, Room 202, Student Government Finance Division Meeting

6 p.m. University Center, Room 202C, Welcome Women in the College of Engineering Technology. Aimed at welcoming newly-enrolled women studying a program within the College of Engineering Technology. Everyone is welcome to attend the event.
