Summer Internships: Sandra Grabovica

Ferris State University students gain valuable work experience through internships. Internships also can confirm or redirect career decision-making, provide marketability, develop people skills and enhance classroom learning. Many academic programs require one, but the experience is encouraged regardless to provide students with a better understanding of what will be expected of them in the workplace.

Many students are participating in myriad internships this summer. Meet:

Sandra GrabovicaSandra Grabovica

She is: a senior from Lansing, Mich., planning to graduate in December 2017 with a Business Administration degree.

Her Internship: Sandra is working with the Michigan Department of State, verifying that insurance coverage is being continued by drivers at the time of plate Registration renewal, and entering information into a database.

Finding the Opportunity: “I was able to start working in this office in January, and was able to continue work while establishing my internship in this area. I would hope to work for the state, when I graduate.”

Advice for Students Seeking Internships: “Follow your heart. I am a year-round student, but saw the internship as a great opportunity to build skills that will make me more marketable.”

Making a Difference: Sandra believes she opened some eyes by handling the duties of her internship while continuing a full-time academic schedule. “I believe I made an important contribution to a team effort.”
