Schult Named Ferris’ New Dean of the College of Engineering Technology

Larry SchultLarry Schult was named dean of Ferris State University’s College of Engineering Technology. His appointment is effective Monday, Dec. 9. The announcement was made by Fritz Erickson, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs.

“I’d like to thank Larry for his willingness and enthusiasm to serve the College of Engineering Technology as dean,” Erickson said of Schult, a Ferris employee since 1994. “He will be an excellent advocate for the college and our students.”

Most recently, Schult was associate dean of operations for the college, providing support in areas of budget, personnel, curriculum development, external initiatives, assessment and accreditation, and policy development. His previous positions include director for two schools within the college, department chair, program coordinator and faculty member. Schult’s Ferris work includes service related to curriculum, tenure, program review, policies and procedures, research grants, as well as historical and archive committees. He served as a mentor to new faculty and a recruiter of high school students. Schult assisted Ferris students with their orientation to the university in addition to his advising and internship coordination work.

In addition to his Ferris service, Schult’s professional career includes valuable experience in industry. He spent several years with AMP Industries as its policy and procedure coordinator and manufacturing vice president. Prior to that position, Schult was vice president (stockholder) and general manager for Grand Traverse Plastics Corporation.

Schult is a former teacher at Fraser High School where he taught plastics shop, wood shop and shop math.
