Kendall College of Art and Design Announces Fashion Studies and Printmaking Accreditation

Ferris State UniversityGRAND RAPIDS – Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University recently announced the National Association of Schools of Art and Design accreditation of both its Fashion Studies and Printmaking programs. Fashion Studies is new to the school, while Printmaking was previously included in the Drawing program, and now is a stand-alone bachelor of fine arts degree program. The NASAD stamp of approval recognizes the hard work that faculty members and students have undertaken during the past several years, and will be a solid foundation for future academic growth and integrity.

NASAD accreditation is a non-governmental review process that evaluates academic programs based on educational objectives and standards established by an association. The granting of accreditation signifies that Kendall has successfully demonstrated compliance with NASAD procedures, standards, and guidelines, and is a critical stamp of approval that can result in the transfer of credits from one institution to another. Above all else, the accreditation indicates that specific standards have been met to provide a base of academic strength and operational integrity.

The Fashion Studies and Printmaking programs present students with projects that require real-life application and problem solving skills to create products that are both wildly creative and aesthetically attractive. Students are encouraged to collaborate inside and outside of the classroom to enhance their education.

“I am so pleased that these programs are now accredited by NASAD,” said Lori Faulkner, chair of Fashion Studies at KCAD. “It gives students an even better academic foundation, steeped in creative design understanding and comprehensive industry knowledge. This is a huge feather in the graduation cap of any student looking to begin a career.”

As a unique part of Ferris State University, Kendall College of Art and Design prepares students for leadership in the visual arts, design, art history, and art education; provides innovative, collaborative education that fosters intellectual growth and individual creativity; and promotes the ethical and civic responsibilities of artists and designers, locally and globally.
