Ferris Professors Featured on List of Top 25 Women Professors in Michigan

Colvert and HillFerris State University professors Kim Colvert and Nell Hill have been featured on the Top 25 Women Professors in Michigan listing published by

Colvert is a professor of Chemistry in the College of Arts, Sciences and Education. Hill is an adjunct instructor, also in the College of Arts, Sciences and Education, who teaches French.

“I hope that this honor will bring even greater awareness to the state about Ferris,” said Hill, who joined the university in 2005. “I hope current and future students will recognize the excellent education that Ferris offers.”

Hill, a Ferris graduate, was awarded the Adjunct Teaching Excellence Award in 2012 for demonstrated excellence in teaching. Hill throws annual Fête de Noël (French Christmas Party) and Mardi Gras parties for students, and hosts a French Conversation Table for students to speak exclusively in French with native French-speaking students.

Colvert, who came to Ferris in 1988, received the Ferris State Academic Scholar Award in 2011 in recognition for excellence in research, inquiry and scholarship. Colvert spends summers and has spent several sabbatical leaves conducting collaborative research at the University of Kansas. The results of her research have been presented in peer-reviewed journals and at international conferences.
