Ferris Board of Trustees Extends President Eisler's Contract

David L. EislerThe Ferris State University Board of Trustees voted to extend David L. Eisler’s contract as university president through June 30, 2016, during the board’s regular meeting today (July 13). Trustees also increased the president’s base compensation by 2.25 percent. President Eisler’s compensation had remained flat for the past two years after he turned down offered increases in 2009 and 2010.

Board of Trustees Chair Ronald Snead noted positive trends at Ferris in comments about President’s Eisler contract extension, including that the university is one of the state leaders in enrollment growth, has increased retention rates and boasts strong placement rates for its graduates. “The president is doing a tremendous job at Ferris. We’re very pleased with what he’s done” Snead said. “He is one the longest-serving university presidents in the state. We want to retain him for as long as he’d like to be here.”

Eisler is in his ninth year of service as Ferris president, a post he assumed in July 2003.

“I want to thank the Board of Trustees for their help and support,” Eisler said. “These are challenging times for higher education in Michigan, but they are also times of great opportunity. It is an honor and privilege to serve as president of Ferris State University. I look forward to working with our Board in continuing to advance our University.”
