Printing Industries of America has named Ferris State University College of Engineering
Technology professor Patrick Klarecki as its academic recipient of a 2011 Education
Award of Excellence. The award is presented annually to an academic representative
in recognition of outstanding contributions to education and training in graphic arts.
Klarecki, interim director of Ferris’ School of Design and Manufacturing, came to the university in 1992. Since his arrival, Klarecki has also served as interim assistant vice president of Academic Affairs, department chair for Printing and Imaging Technology Management, and as a professor in Printing Management.
In addition to his academic work, Klarecki has served as a lecturer and consultant on Lean, color management and process improvement at universities and printers in Thailand. He serves on the board of directors for the Graphic Arts Education Research Foundation, Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation, the Accreditation Council for Collegiate Graphic Communications, and as chief expert for the WorldSkills graphic communications committee.
Klarecki is a recognized expert in Lean process improvement for the print media industry
and higher education administrative areas. He has worked with companies including
Amway’s Access Business Group, Simonds International and Toppan Printing Co. Ltd.
to review and improve their production and operational processes.
PIA also recognized Rajendrakumar Anayath as a 2011 Education Awards of Excellence
industry award recipient.
The Education Awards of Excellence will be presented in front of academic educators and industry trainers at the 2011 Graphic Arts Show Company/Printing Industries of America Teacher’s Conference September 10-12 in Chicago.
