Paul Doyle receives Distinguished Alumni Award

pictureBIG RAPIDS – Paul Doyle, of Paul T. Doyle and Associates, LLC, received the Ferris State University Distinguished Alumni Award during the University’s Spring Reunion banquet.

Doyle, a 1979 graduate of Ferris’ College of Education and Human Services, has been working in the health care industry in West Michigan since 1985. As former director of Community Health Strategy for the Spectrum Health Healthier Communities department, he supported the creation of innovative strategies and programs to improve the health of West Michigan.

Doyle established Paul T. Doyle and Associates, LLC, contracting with health care organizations and businesses across the nation, to assist them with organizational transformation and help them revamp or restructure how they provide services to diverse populations. According to Doyle, diversity and organizational cultural competence are focal points of his newly formed company, along with addressing community health care disparities.

His commitment to healthy communities has formed his extensive personal involvement in Grand Rapids civic improvement organizations. He is president of Kentwood Public Schools Board of Education, board chair of Grand Rapids Community Foundation and founding board chairman of Grand Rapids African American Health Institute, among others.

Recognition for his community work includes the United Way Project Blue Print Award – “Individual Champion of Diversity” for 2006 and being appointed faculty to the Health Research Educational Trust’s Cultural Competence Leadership Fellowship.

Doyle lives in Caledonia, with his wife and Ferris alumnae, Celeste, and their three children –Shannon Bell, and Sara and Shavon Doyle.
