Information Security and Intelligence (ISI) students focus on cybersecurity, information assurance, compliance and auditing, business intelligence, incident response, and project management. Graduates of the Bachelor of Science and Master of Science programs are in high demand in the public and private sectors to become cybersecurity professionals, data analysts, digital forensic investigators, FBI special agents, risk analysts, penetration testers, and more. 

The mission of the Ferris State University Information Security and Intelligence program is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and resilience to identify, protect and defend information systems, intelligence, technology, individuals, and infrastructure from cyberattacks, cybercrime, and data security risks professionally and ethically. 

ISI graduates are critical to the nation’s security, both from domestic and foreign threats to safety and to protect the businesses and corporations that build and sustain our economy. Ferris ISI is designated as a National Security Agency Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense. Ferris was the first University in the United States to be designated as a Department of Defense/Air Force Cyber Command Center of Digital Forensic Academic Excellence. The Bachelors of Science ISI is the only cybersecurity program in Michigan that is ABET-accredited in cybersecurity and is currently the only Cyber Security program in the United States that is ABET-accredited to be delivered 100% online. 

ISI in the Center for Virtual Learning 

The Center for Virtual Learning will host the Information Security and Intelligence Program on two floors. The second floor will include secured evidence rooms, examination rooms, faculty offices, presentation rooms and Faraday rooms. 

Faraday rooms are secured from network and radio transmission, which is necessary when performing examination and experiments on things such as cell phones, mobile devices and malware analysis. This will be the only Faraday room in the state of Michigan. 

On the first floor, adjacent to the State of Michigan’s first purpose-built Esports Arena on a University campus, the Center For Virtual Learning will host competitions in a new FSU Cyber Competition Center. These highly successful events attract the best and brightest minds with puzzles ranging from social media and dark web investigations of criminal activity to artificial intelligence interventions and augmented reality experiences.
