Artificial Intelligence & Project Management in the CVL

Education at the Speed of Industry

Print AI & Project Management Fact Sheet

Alongside the Information Security and Intelligence program, the university’s College of Business will bring two other high-demand, high-growth programs to the Center for Virtual Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Project Management. As our rapidly changing economy and society grapples with urgent needs for solutions in such areas as technology application and in global supply chain disruptions, these programs speak to the future of our workforce needs.

With a mission-driven imperative to serve as a pioneer in new technology for more than a century, Ferris State University launched its Artificial Intelligence major in 2021. The Artificial Intelligence (AI) program prepares students for careers in one of the fastest growing fields, with focus areas in Cybersecurity, Internet of Things, Machine Learning, and Natural Language Processing. This includes using voice and other biometric data to control personal, household, transportation and industrial applications. Students learn how to define, design and deliver solutions using various AI technologies/capabilities in an ethical and meaningful way.

To move at the speed of industry, the demand for project managers in information technology, construction, health care, finance, marketing, supply chain, manufacturing, government, and many other industries are increasing. With credentials ranging from certificate to undergraduate major to graduate studies,
Project Management students are prepared to serve as leaders in project scheduling, budgeting, risk management, communication, team building, and procurement in technical and non-technical fields.

AI & PM in the Center for Virtual Learning

The Center for Virtual Learning will host the Artificial Intelligence and Project Management program on two floors, leveraging the Information Security and Intelligence program’s square footage and world class faculty.

In addition to the laboratories and classrooms on the second floor, the Faraday room will enable isolating all network communication, one of many design considerations which facilitate AI instruction and research. The central contribution of the Center for Virtual Learning to the Artificial Intelligence program delivery, however, will come in the form of computing power within the facility.

Also leveraging shared space and cross- pollination with the Information Security and Intelligence program, the first floor Ferris Cyber Competition Center will create, attract and engage the next generation of leaders in business, tech, health care, construction and any other industry where the projects are complex and the stakes are high.
