For the past 7 years, the Ferris State University College of Business has utilized the experiential student team model, helping students in the Operations and Supply Management Program, Lean Systems Minors and Lean System Certificate courses complete more than 120 projects.
Based on the success of this model, which provides students with high-impact learning opportunities, the Business Innovation and Lean Center (BILC) was born. Officially opening in September 2021, the BILC is a collaborative space for nonprofits, government, industry, schools, and innovators to collaborate and develop process-improvement solutions.
The vision: to foster problem-solving, lean thinking, innovation, and leadership in graduates of the program. The BILC provides students with experiential learning opportunities and a physical space in which to collaborate with organizations in need of process improvements and business solutions.
The BILC supports the development of innovative and transformational leaders of the future by providing students with experiential learning experiences and a physical space in which to collaborate with organizations in need of process improvements and business solutions. Students can consult with community partners, both on and off-campus, to review and rethink their internal processes and practices. Organizations that want to create change in their community have the opportunity to work with student project managers to develop process improvements and new, innovative ways to be successful.
The success of the BILC will rely on the generous support of those interested in creating a generation of critical thinkers and creative leaders. Be a catalyst for innovation.
