Biography

Christine Vonder Haar specializes in Rhetoric and Composition, teaching a variety of writing courses including introductory level (ENGL 150) and advanced writing (ENGL 321). In addition to composition, she teaches linguistics (ENGL 301) as well as the following literature courses: Practical Criticism (LITR 250), Early and Modern British Literature (LITR 351, LITR 352), and Shakespeare (LITR 323).
Her co-curricular interests on campus include the Fulbright Scholar programs as a campus coordinator, English Education and Curriculum. She also serves as an advisor to English Education students as well as a University Supervisor and mentor for aspiring teachers during their student teaching semester. She has also worked with Ferris State’s Doctor of Community College Leadership (DCCL) program serving as a dissertation chair/advisor.
Dr. Vonder Haar is a life-time member of the Fulbright Association and was awarded Fulbright Scholarships to Poland (1990–1992) and Hungary (1997), is co-founder of the Ferris Fulbrighters, and was charter member and first president of the Missouri Chapter Fulbright Association.
She is the recipient of the Michigan Council of Teachers of English Charles Carpenter Fries Award (2018), Ferris State University International Educator Award (2017), and Ferris State University Outstanding Academic Advising Award (2012).
