A transfer student is defined by Ferris State University as having completed high school or obtained a GED, and completed 12 or more transferrable credits at an accredited institution, (not dual enrolled, advanced placement, or proficiency testing).
The following are guidelines to becoming a student at Ferris State University:
Step 1: Apply
Step 2: Request official transcripts to be sent to Ferris from your transfer institution
Step 3: Complete Online OR In-Person Orientation (all students are required to complete orientation)
Step 4: Make an appointment with your college's academic advisor
After you have been accepted to Ferris State University, your Ferris360 account and Ferris email account will be created. Your email, grades, unofficial transcripts, hold, registration, and many other service features will be available through Ferris360. Check your email often, as this is how Ferris will communicate with you.
Rules for Transferring
If you are planning to complete additional college coursework, you must provide updated transcripts for evaluation, as your current college will not automatically send another transcript. Students desiring to transfer into any COEHS Baccalaureate program from other accredited institutions of higher education are granted transfer credit on an individual basis.
Grades earned at another college that are C- or below are not accepted by Ferris. Please note that programmatic requirements and prerequisites override the University's policy to accept grades lower than a C. Please read the requirements noted on your program literature and contact your program directly if you have further questions.
Courses that transfer to FSU at below the 100 level do not count toward graduation and credit hours are not granted for them.
If a course that Ferris accepts has fewer credits than the Ferris requirement, you may need to take additional courses to fulfill the minimum graduation credit requirements of your program.
