The Road From Accepted to Enrolled

Step 1

Submit your $80 Orientation fee/deposit to Ferris State University. You can pay online through the Ferris Ebill system at, or send your payment to Ferris State University, Business Office/Enrollment, 1201 South State Street, CSS-101AA, Big Rapids, MI 49307-2747. If you are accepted for Fall semester, please read our policy to defer your payment of the enrollment fee. Read the enrollment fee refund policy.

Step 2

Submit college or university transcripts for any college course work you may have completed while in high school or since your high school graduation. Ask your college or university to submit an official transcript to our Admissions and Records Office for evaluation.

Step 3

Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) after Jan. 1. The financial aid office must have access to a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You must complete a FAFSA and indicate that you are considering attendance at Ferris.

Step 4

Respond to the orientation mailings. The Orientation Office coordinates all of the activities that a new student must participate in to be ready for the first day of classes. The first step is to sign up for a Class Registration and Orientation Session. ALL new incoming students are urged to complete this process.

Step 5

Read carefully and respond to the housing office contract request after April 1. The housing contract will reserve a spot for you in our on-campus residence halls. There are a number of requirements that need to be met before a student can move off-campus. You can see these in the Housing & Residence Life pages.
