Financial Appeals Due to Medical Issues

Students who withdraw from all classes for a given semester due to a medical condition may submit a financial appeal due to medical issues. Only one appeal per student will be accepted during academic attendance at Ferris State University. This appeal is not available for students owing a balance due to a reversal of Financial Aid, those that received a Financial Aid refund, and/or for withdrawals processed during the last week of class or exam week. The decision made by Student Financial Services is final and cannot be appealed with another office.

  1. Send an email regarding your request for appeal to [email protected], or mail a letter to Student Financial Services (1201 S. State St. CSS 101P, Big Rapids, MI 49307), detailing the date of withdrawal and medical issues that precipitated your withdrawal.
  2. Include a letter from your doctor regarding your condition.
  3. Student Financial Services will review the appeal and provide a written decision to the student.
  4. Appeals must be received by Student Financial Services within thirty (30) days after a class drop or ninety (90) days after a total withdrawal is processed with the Records Office.
