Biography

As an Honors advisor, Cathy Bordeau helps Honors students make the most of their Honors experience. She knows that students have unique needs and interests and works with them to personalize their Honors education. She also advises several student committees of the Honors Student Association and teaches Introduction to Honors.

Cathy does research on Honors advising as well. She presented research on optimal ways to guide students planning Honors contracts at the National Collegiate Honors Council conference in November 2018. She also received a grant from the NCHC to do placemaking with honors students in South Quad in 2019.

Before coming to Ferris, Cathy was an associate professor of French, an advisor, and a division chair at Lyon College in Arkansas. In 2006, she was named Arkansas Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.

Cathy holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Michigan.
