Student Recreation Center Updates

Summer Semester:

The Student Recreation Center will be open to all of the Ferris community and the general public beginning May 17th. Memberships and day passes will be available for those looking to use the facility during the summer months. For more information on memberships, please follow the link: memberships. The health and safety of our Ferris State community and the general public  remains our top priority. Because of this, we still have restrictions in place. Please read below for more information. 

Building Hours

May 3rd through May 16th CLOSED
Monday - Thursday (starting May. 17th) 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM
Friday 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Saturday & Sunday CLOSED

Facility Spaces

During the Summer semester, patrons using the facility will no longer be required to make a reservation to secure a workout space. All patrons will have to check in upon arrival and check out when leaving the facility. Certain areas of the facility will still have capacity limits which will be enforced by the University Recreation staff.

Please note, the pool and climbing wall will remain closed throughout the summer semester. We are planning on reopening these areas for the Fall semester. 


Workout Guidelines

Patrons using the facility will no longer have to make a reservation in order to workout. Upon arrival, you will be asked to check in with the front desk staff and be asked to check out when leaving the facility. Due to restrictions still in place, certain areas of the facility will have number limitations. These limitations will be monitored by the University Recreation staff. Patrons are allowed to move freely throughout the building during their workout. 

Basketball Court Reservations

Patrons will be allowed to check out basektballs or bring their own to use our basketball courts. There will be no full court 5v5. However, patrons are allowed to play 3v3 half court if they choose. 


Student Expectations

  • If you're feeling sick, please stay home and do not come in for your workout.
  • Anyone that is not fully vaccinated must continue to wear a mask inside the facility
  • Maintain a 6 foot distance at all times. Equipment has been spaced out with a minimum of 6 feet distance.
  • Bring your own water bottle. Only refillable water bottle stations will be open.
  • We encourage you to bring your own stretching mats to use in the facility.
  • Please clean machines and equipment before and after use. This means all equipment touched during your workout. Spray bottles and towels have been placed throughout the facility.
  • Clean your hands. Sanitation stations have been placed throughout each workout area.
  • Failure to follow State and University guidelines will have you removed from the facility.

To our Members

Yoga Classes

University Recreation will be offering free yoga classes to anyone with a membership for the summer. If you do not have a membership, but would still like to participate in these classes, you can purchase a day pass for the class. There will be two classes ever Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 11:00am and 5:00pm in studio 202B. These will be offered starting May 17th and go through the end of July.
