Ted Halm was recognized for his outstanding service as a valued member of the Ferris staff. Halm's pro-Ferris mentality and consistent hard work is a true testament to his long career at Ferris. Beginning with the online campus calendar and "Week in Pictures" section, Halm aimed to take his creativity and initiative further, engaging and collaborating with more than 100 individuals across campus, including faculty, staff and students, in the effort to redesign the university website, resulting in a unified pride for his work and team.

Halm's mentorship and promotion of student talents are unmatched, including his personal assistance to Registered Student Organizations and Bulldog Athletics. He has cultivated positive relationships with alumni and has contributed to numerous committees, councils and societies.

During his career at Ferris, Halm has been recognized by the Who's Who Historical Society for Information Technology as well as the Cambridge Who's Who Among Executives and Professionals in Education. During his various positions at Ferris, one of Halm's many accomplishments consisted of winning 10 national publication awards for athletics.

Halm has also made his mark in the local community, playing and coaching in the Big Rapids Men's Softball Association for 36 years, as well as taking on the task of writing the league's constitution. Furthermore, Halm is admired for the positive example he has set as a proud and active father of two children, who are currently attending Ferris.

Gary Schneider's attitude, hard work and love for Ferris are treasured by those around the university. Through his continuous quest for excellence as he prepares invoices, participates in bid committees, manages menu items through FoodPro, and working with the Physical Plant on equipment repairs, Schneider has developed positive, longstanding vendor relationships, proving beneficial to the university and those it serves.

By sharing his knowledge of hunting, trapping, fishing and cooking over an open fire, students have enjoyed the opportunity to experience outdoor activities from a new perspective. Additionally, Schneider has always strived to offer students, employees and the community new recipes to ensure the availability of healthy, delicious menu selections.

Schneider's involvement with the safety committee for the Rock Café, the National Association of College and University Food Services, FoodPro conferences, and ServSafe sanitation classes has further demonstrated his goal that patrons always have healthy food choices in a safe, clean dining environment.

Additionally, Schneider's participation in the community is admired. He shares his time and talents with the Michigan Trappers Association and St. Anne's Catholic Church, and has contributed to the Big Rapids High School band and Big Rapids High School hockey fundraisers.

Faye Young, named an "FSU cheerleader" by a co-worker, carries a cheerful and trustworthy personality that is loved by many. Her positive outlook is admired as she always strives to make a difference in an employee's or student's life, in even the simplest of ways.

Young has made more than 200 baskets for students in her assigned residence hall, as well as for sick employees. She has helped to raise money for those who are unable to work while recovering from long illnesses, and has improved the lives of those around her because of her kind heart and caring manner.

Young has set an outstanding example by teaching her grandchildren how to give to others through stuffing baskets, making cookies and creating crafts, among other things. She has supported Relay for Life and the FSU team for many years, and her efforts do not go unnoticed, as she has received previous awards from the National Association of College and University Residence Halls.
