Equity in Education: Professional Development Program

During this professional development session, the relationship between educational inequity and race-based discrimination, laws, and propaganda will be examined. Opportunities were scarce for African Americans during enslavement, and the Jim Crow era provided further obstacles for educational attainment and career options. Laws, policies, and social customs that demeaned, segregated, and oppressed African Americans were common. Discrimination against Black and other racial/ethnic identity groups continue to perpetuate racism and influence race relations in the education system today.

The program can be taken for SCECH credit (5 hours) or for personal and professional enrichment.
