Phased Re-Entry Plan

Returning Safely

The University is following a phased re-entry plan that will help ensure the safety of our communities.

Current Status: Phase Three

Nov 15 Update:

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services issued an emergency order enacting a three-week pause in activities designed to curb rapidly rising COVID-19 infection rates. Under this order, colleges and universities are to move to remote learning effective Wednesday, Nov. 18. The full text of the emergency order may be accessed on-line. Along with the emergency order, three infographics were released on Pause to Save Lives, Safe Social Pods, and Social Gathering

Under this order, University offices may remain open.  Employees are asked to report to work as planned for Monday, Nov. 16 and Tuesday, Nov. 17.

Specific guidance for all faculty and staff members regarding in-person and remote work arrangements beginning Wednesday, Nov. 18 will be provided by their supervisor and/or vice president by 12 pm on Tuesday, Nov. 17. It is important the all faculty, staff and students continue completing the daily symptom checker, wear masks, socially distance, and wash hands as this pandemic continues.

Phase Three Details

Full return to in-person campus operations, Aug. 24 - Dec. 21

We are currently in Phase Three of our re-entry plan. The majority, if not all faculty and staff, will return to their on-campus workspaces for all or part of their scheduled work week. Additionally, all departments should have approved Re-engagement Plans in-place, and all employees should continue to:

  • Complete the required COVID-19 Symptom Checker daily and stay home if you are sick.
  • Wear a face covering inside University buildings and in any situation where social distancing is difficult.
  • Practice social distancing (6 feet).
  • Practice good hand washing/sanitizing often.
  • Conduct group or staff meetings remotely as much as possible (use Zoom, MS Teams, etc.).
  • Stay to the right when using hallways and stairwells.
  • Limit only 2-people riding in an elevator at one time.
  • Be aware of any additional social distancing guidelines that may be posted on the doors and hallways of different campus buildings.

Employees with concerns regarding returning to campus should contact Human Resources at [email protected] regarding available options.
