Message to Students

September 4, 2020

Good morning Bulldogs!

I hope that your semester has started strong, and you had a great first week back. Thank you for wearing your masks, keeping social distance, gathering in small social families, and practicing good personal hygiene. Our collective actions are helping to ensure we can remain on-campus and at our statewide locations this fall. As we approach the holiday weekend and look to the remainder of our semester together, it is important that we do not let up on these efforts.

Applications are now open for Phase 2 CARES Grants for all Fall 2020 enrolled students who have incurred expenses related to the changes in their course delivery methods.

Eligible expenses include assistance for food, housing, health care, childcare costs, and to purchase remote-learning technology and resources. Per federal requirements, only students who are Title IV eligible (eligible for federal student financial aid) based on their 2020-2021 FAFSA, have an opportunity to receive a grant. Eligible students will receive a $400 grant and these funds will not need to be repaid. Grant applications will be reviewed in the order that they are received. Eligible applications will be funded until all funds are disbursed.

More information and a link to the application can be found here. Note: you will need to log onto MyFSU to complete the application.

Here are some Phase 2 Cares Grant Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and answers:

  • If I received a $400 CARES Grant for spring 2020, am I eligible to receive a Fall 2020 CARES Grant?

Yes. Students who received the $400 CARES Grant in the spring and who meet all eligibility requirements this fall are eligible to apply for a second $400 Grant.

  • If my application is approved, when and how will I receive the $400 grant?

Payments will be made in the same manner by which your financial aid refunds are paid to you either by direct deposit or by check. Checks will be mailed to your permanent address on file.  Applications processed by Wednesday each week will be directly deposited on Friday (or a check mailed on Friday).

  • How can I sign-up or review my direct deposit?

Log onto MyFSU, click on Student, MyAccount, and then the Direct Deposit quick link, to sign up for or review your direct deposit.

Additional FAQs about the CARES Grant can be found here.

Enjoy your weekend, be safe, and stay healthy.
