Stay Healthy for Thanksgiving

The COVID-19 infection rate is on the rise across the nation.  This is a stark reminder that as a community we must continue to be diligent in our efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 to protect ourselves and those around us.  Continue to practice social/physical distancing, wear a face covering, and wash your hands often to keep you and others safe and healthy.

The number of individuals testing for COVID-19 in our state has increased in the last few weeks.  This is resulting in a longer timeframe between the test, receiving results and communication with close contacts.  It is imperative that we all stay home if we are feeling ill, if we have been exposed to someone who has tested positive and when we are awaiting test results from being symptomatic and/or a close contact.

With just two weeks until the Thanksgiving holiday, we are encouraging anyone traveling for Thanksgiving break to participate in a modified quarantine period from now until you leave, and to participate in our upcoming voluntary, asymptomatic testing clinics the next two weeks on the Big Rapids campus or at KCAD (details forthcoming).

Modified quarantine includes staying at your place of residence as much as possible; leaving only for class, work, to get food, and for doctor’s appointments; significantly reducing your contact with others; always wearing a face covering; not attending gatherings outside of your home or with members outside of your household; and continuing to monitor for symptoms and practice good hygiene.

MI COVID Alert App Now Available

This week the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services made available a free app, MI COVID Alert, to help us to notify each other and slow the spread of COVID-19 in Michigan.  To learn more and to download the statewide app, click here.

I hope you are staying healthy and wish you a successful two weeks leading up to Thanksgiving and a holiday break that provides joy, rest and recuperation.  Thank you for choosing Ferris State for your education and go Bulldogs!

Best regards,

Joy N. Pulsifer
