COVID-19 Case Tracking at Ferris

Here you will find all data related to the tracking of COVID-19 cases at Ferris State University and Kendall College of Art and Design (KCAD), including new, cumulative, and active cases. 

Data found in the Ferris State University table reflects cases connected to all Ferris locations across Michigan except KCAD's Grand Rapids campus. Data found in the KCAD table reflects only cases connected to KCAD's Grand Rapids campus.

Reporting Frequency

  • The University began reporting case data the week of August 24, with its first reported result posted only three days later on Thursday, August 27, 2020.
  • Between August 24 and September 13, 2020, case data was posted weekly.
  • Beginning Monday, September 14, 2020, the University moved to daily reporting. New cases confirmed on Saturday and Sunday were added to the following Monday's totals.
  • Beginning Monday, September 21, 2020, the University began reporting information about active cases on a daily basis. "Active" cases reflects the count of positive cases reported to the University over the past ten days. This is an estimate of those currently in isolation, assuming a ten day symptomatic period following the report of a positive test result. Actual periods of isolation are specific to the individual and determined by the county health department.
  • Beginning Monday, June 7, 2021, the University moved back to reporting case data on a weekly basis.
  • Beginning Monday, August 30, 2021, the University returned to reporting case data on a daily basis.
  • Beginning Monday, January 10, 2022, the University began reporting “Active” cases as the count of positive cases reported to the University of the past five days. This is an estimate of those currently in isolation, assuming a five day period following the report of a positive test result. Actual periods of isolation are specific to the individual and determined by the University’s COVID-19 Case Management Nurse.
