Students Encouraged to Review MyScholarships Opportunities for Hundreds of Available Awards

The Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid staff notes that early in the calendar year is an ideal time for any Ferris student, current or future, to review hundreds of scholarship opportunities and apply.

Minimizing the cost of a Ferris State University education could be available to students through the MyScholarships page, managed by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. The staff notes that early in the calendar year is an ideal time for any Ferris student, current or future, to review hundreds of scholarship opportunities and apply.

Assistant Director of Financial Aid Melanie Mulder noted various scholarship opportunities for students to apply. She encourages students to seek these potential awards regardless of their grade point average or year at Ferris.

“We want every student to log in, answer one ‘yes’ or ‘no’ question and hit ‘submit’ to complete a general application, which puts them into consideration for a significant range of our scholarship awards,” Mulder said. “With over 700 listings in MyScholarships, any student should be actively reviewing this portal once they have been admitted to Ferris and throughout their time on campus.”

Mulder said the Woodbridge N. Ferris scholarships awarded to newly admitted students do not prevent recipients from applying for and potentially receiving additional aid.

“There are some scholarship opportunities that require essays or providing letters of reference as an element of the application requirements,” Mulder said. “Some of those awards are not as sought after, so we want to stress taking the time and effort to be considered can be very rewarding for an applicant.”

The MyScholarships portal for the 2023-24 academic year opened Dec. 15, and Mulder said applications and materials may be presented up to Tuesday, Feb. 28.

“There are committees across campus who consider candidate submissions and select scholarship recipients so that those awards can be processed and distributed in a timely fashion,” Mulder said. “Students with questions about the process can reach out via email to [email protected] or contact us by phone at (231) 591-2110.”
