Mark Ritchie, the former Secretary of State for the State of Minnesota, speaks in Ferris State University’s David L. Eisler Center Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 6 p.m. Ritchie is the guest of the collegiate chapter of the American Marketing Association in an event free and open to all students.

Being aware of and responsive to opportunities is the theme Tuesday, Oct. 4, as the American Marketing Association chapter of Ferris State University welcomes former Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie to the David L. Eisler Center for a 6 p.m. presentation in Room 211.

The registered student organization welcomes students from all majors and colleges to this event. Ritchie will set to detail his educational and professional journey. AMA Ferris chapter President Quintin Zinger is excited about the perspectives Ritchie can offer all students.

“I recently became acquainted with Mr. Ritchie at the Green Sports Alliance conference in Minnesota,” Zinger said. “This conference was about sustainability in the sports and entertainment industry, which is very important to him. He is currently the lead in bringing the World Fair Expo to Minneapolis in 2027. His most recent job title is president of Minnesota Global. Ritchie has great experience in just about every aspect of business, marketing, politics, event management, and much more.”

Ritchie was born in Georgia and moved to Iowa, where he graduated high school and earned a degree from Iowa State University. He has advocated for voter registration, synergies between international trade and the environment and promoting sustainability of rural communities.

Ferris’ Presence link is available to offer further details on the event. Celeste Littrup, vice president of professional development for AMA Ferris, can assist people interested in the event with questions.

“This will be a very engaging event, where students will get to ask any questions they may have for him,” Littrup said. “We are excited to welcome Mr. Ritchie as part of our Marketing Week activities.”

AMA collegiate chapters across the country traditionally hold Marketing Week during the first week of October.
